While cloud-based ERP Implementation Requires Work, Benefits can be Enormous

February 25, 2013

Many companies have deployed cloud computing solutions for their cost-savings potential, particularly during the implementation process, and that is certainly true for cloud-based ERP systems.

In a recent blog post for SmartData Collective, Pat Garrehy, CEO of Rockstock, highlighted some of the benefits of cloud-based ERP, including:

– Cost-efficiency both during and after the implementation process. Maintenance costs tend to be extremely low for cloud-based ERP because that responsibility is shifted to the provider.

– Flexibility is one of the top-noted benefits of cloud computing software. For ERP systems, this is a crucial advantage, particularly because the hybrid possibility offers an alternative for companies that aren't ready to overhaul their legacy systems.

– Scalability is arguably the top advantage of cloud-based ERP. Organizations can scale their ERP software up or down over time depending on business-related needs, and vendors can perform upgrades automatically, without any downtime.

In a separate blog post for ERP Cloud News, Garrehy emphasized that these benefits are both tangible and realistic for any company, especially with regard to eliminating most implementation costs. However, he also stressed that achieving the full potential of cloud-based ERP will not come automatically, but through commitment to the technologies, organizations will be able to accomplish their goals.
