Staffing firm opportunities on rise, expected growth to continue

staffing firmThe Bureau of Labor and Statistics reports for April more than 16,000 jobs were created and filled through staffing firms – up .6 percent from March and up more than 6 percent year over.

The report, released in May, speaks to the fact that smart businesses are turning to the expertise and professionalism of staffing firms, such as DISYS, and what they have to offer with their talent pools.

“Heading into the beginning of the second quarter, staffing and recruiting firms are reporting increases in orders to fill temporary and permanent positions across much of the economy,” said Richard Wahlquist, president and chief executive officer of the American Staffing Association. “Labor markets continue to tighten in several sectors, most notably in healthcare, where demand is outpacing the supply …”

The report also indicated temporary help employment increased 2.1 percent from March to April – 6 percent more staffing employees than April of last year. It is also important to note the unemployment rate went down slightly — .1 percent from March and .8 percent from April of last year.

CareerBuilder adds weight to these statistics, saying temporary services were one of the first in adding industry jobs when the recession officially ended – growing 57 percent between 2009 and 2014.

“Temporary employment will continue on an upward trajectory as companies look for ways to quickly adapt to market dynamics,” Eric Gilpin, president of CareerBuilder’s staffing & recruiting and health care divisions, said in a statement.

“Two in five U.S. employers expect to hire temporary or contract workers this year,” he continued, “which opens new doors for workers who want to build relationships with different organizations and explore career options.”

CareerBuilder listed the jobs it feels will have the largest growth impact on the market. In occupations paying more than $15 an hour, the CareerBuilder top growing jobs are computer systems analysts — expected to jump to 19 percent between now and 2019. Temp jobs for accountants, and auditors, customer service representatives, and HR are also expected to see significant growth, the article states.
