- Client Industry: Telecommunications - Wireless Applications
- About Client: Our client is the leading publisher of mobile location based service (LBS) applications, including MapQuest FindMe, Buddy Beacon from Helio, and WHERE. WHERE is the world’s first wireless GPS widget platform, and enables consumers to easily discover location based content, maps & directions, and customize their mobile lifestyle based on the people, places and things that matter to them most. Their cross-carrier location platform enables the rapid deployment of innovative handset and network-based LBS applications.
- Client Relationship Overview: DISYS has been engaged with the client since June 2009. The Boston area is a hub for companies competing in the wireless application development space, and the DISYS Boston office has taken advantage of the opportunity. Our experience in web design projects led us to the development of wireless applications from the web, then to wireless/handheld initiatives.
Engagement Details:
- Business Need: The client was marketing and selling their own location based wireless application called WHERE. They needed to be able to develop wireless applications in-house for wireless carriers across iPhone and Blackberry devices.
- Project Objectives: Provide the client with in-house capabilities to develop software that works with all wireless providers to which they have sold their applications, including iPhone and Blackberry.
- Solution Approach: DISYS provided the client with a team of development engineers. DISYS consultants first worked directly with our client’s customers to do initial analysis of their mobile devices before developing the fitting software to work on their devices. DISYS had the skills and experience provide services through out the entire process, from requirement analysis with clients, to application coding for iPhone and Blackberry devices. This allowed the client’s software to work directly with all of their wireless clients’ devices.
- Business Value: DISYS provided the necessary technical and project management expertise to, in a short timeframe, help the client develop the right software to ensure their product works on iPhone and Blackberry devices. DISYS also had end to end project delivery responsibilities, allowing the client’s engineers to focus attention to other areas.
