Engagement Details:

  • Business Need: The client needed to install and integrate BMC Performance Manager for SAP 5.x, with SAP Solution Manager and AlarmPoint for one of its clients – Becton Dickinson. The installation needed to be agentless through the company portal. • Solution Approach:
      • DISYS followed an Agent-less monitoring approach for their SAP Infrastructure because of its low overhead on the end nodes, ease of maintenance and centralized configuration.
      • Due to the stringent schedule, DISYS provided one SAP SME with proven experience installing BMC Performance Manager, and one BMC SME with proven experience installing BPM for SAP.
      • DISYS used BMC Implementation Framework and Methodology: Plan and Prepare, Analyze, Design, Build, Validate and Deploy.

  • Technology Components and Versions:
      • BMC® Performance Manager for SAP 5.x,
      • Patrol Agents/KMs and BMC Portal for agent-less monitoring
      • BMC® Service Impact Manager 7.x.
      • SAP Landscape with around 30 Unix (Solaris 5.10) servers.
      • Client SAP Landscape mainly consists of Netweaver 2004s systems (SAP Version 7.0) with ABAP, JAVA and ABAP+JAVA systems.
      • BPM for SAP used as a centralized tool for management and monitoring of complex SAP infrastructure.

  • Business Value: : After two failed attempts by another integrator to implement BPM for SAP Applications and Portal and integrate it with Performance Monitor, AlarmPoint, DISYS was able to provide an SAP SME with over 50 Performance Manager/Patrol implementations and expertise in the client’s framework due to past employment with the client.
